The land surrounding Wembley Stadium has changed massively over recent years, in particular when it comes to new areas of accommodation and the ways of feeding all of them.
Eating Near Wembley Stadium
Attending a football match at Wembley Stadium is an exhilarating experience, but it’s also bound to work up an appetite. Which you’d want your wallet to be prepared for.
Whilst the stadium experience itself is always an incredible thing to behold, it must be said that the food options within the concourse aren’t incredible and are usually around the same price – whilst largely selling the same thing from store to store.
I should know – as I used to work there!
Fortunately, you don’t have to break the bank to enjoy a delicious meal before or after the game. In this guide, we’ll explore five affordable food spots around Wembley Stadium where you can fuel up without emptying your bank balance.
The London Designer Outlet
This has been the go-to spot for stadium-goers for years.
And that’s all part of its design and location.
Quite literally on top of all of the retail shops on the ground floor, you have the restaurants (and even a cinema) on the third.
Popular choices like Nando’s, Zizzi and Pizza Express all adorn the top rank of the outlet, but are likely to be the most rammed on game day, unless you’re willing to get there a good few hours before your event is to take place. Otherwise, the rest of the list might suit you.
There are also newer restaurants and cafes adjacent to the actual outlet itself which are usually a little less crowded, but still face a similar issue on event days.
Boxpark Wembley
For a diverse culinary experience, head to Boxpark Wembley, a vibrant dining destination housed in repurposed shipping containers.
Here, you’ll find a wide array of street food vendors offering everything from Asian fusion cuisine to gourmet hot dogs and vegan delights. As well as an all-day bar located in the middle. I highly recommend Zia Lucia Pizza and Smashing Plates – but that’s a personal preference!
With affordable prices and a casual atmosphere, Boxpark Wembley is the perfect spot to grab a quick bite before kick-off or refuel after the match. But again, you’d want to get there early.
And make sure you check in with their Instagram account before going, as they’re likely to have a dedicated event for event-goers on the day… with exclusive access to ticket holders.
Wembley Central High Street
For budget-friendly eats with a local flair, take a short walk to Wembley Central high street, a bustling hub of food stalls and vendors offering an eclectic mix of international cuisine.
From Indian curries to Middle Eastern kebabs and Caribbean jerk chicken, the market boasts an array of flavours to suit every palate. With affordable prices and generous portions, you can enjoy a satisfying meal without breaking the bank.
Here, you can find a number of your favourite takeaway eateries too: like Subway, Taco Bell & KFC.
It’s also a stone’s throw away from the stadium and near Wembley Central station. So, if your journey happens to take you there instead of the Wembley Park, it might be a blessing in disguise!
Local Supermarkets
Sometimes, the simplest option is the most convenient and budget-friendly.
Just a short walk from Wembley Stadium, Tesco Express, Sainsbury’s Local and a larger ASDA located about 1km away all offer a wide selection of grab-and-go meals, snacks, and beverages as you know.
Stock up on sandwiches, wraps, salads, and other quick bites to enjoy before the game or during halftime. It might be the perfect quick solution should you need something to tie you over!
But again, be wary of changing open times due to event day traffic.
Summary
Enjoying a delicious meal before or after a football match at Wembley Stadium doesn’t have to break the bank, and it won’t so long as you are willing to venture out a bit further than usual.
From pub grub favorites to international cuisine and quick bites on the go, there’s something for every taste and budget around Wembley Stadium. So grab a bite, cheer on your team, and make the most of your matchday experience without breaking the bank.
