A Quick & Honest Review of TOCA Social at the O2

With the newest TOCA Social site taking shape in Birmingham, I was fortunate enough to be invited down to the London stalwart this past week to try out the games for myself.

What is TOCA Social?

TOCA Social is an interactive football game.

Where players can go up against their friends to physically kick a ball at a few targets in different games with the aim of beating them on the scoreboard at the end of the game.

It’s also a bar, social space and all-round good vibes at London’s O2.

I’ve been there before at a number of different events, including a few interviews and panel discussions conducted by the people at Masters Football, so I was familiar with their game, but I hadn’t yet played – but that all changed when I went down on Friday!

Is TOCA Social Expensive?

Prices at TOCA Social start from £12 p/person.

But that’s the off-peak price and it can generally different depending on time and day.

Otherwise, it could be increased to £16 p/person.

That being said, I would recommend that you go during the off-peak times – which is made clear on their website here. Because it gives you enough time to properly enjoy the games.

Are the TOCA Social Games Fun?

In a word, yes.

They’re very fun.

My personal favourite is their tournament mode.

Where you’re taken through three different interactive games to test how accurate you are with the ball at your feet. That zombie one game me so much anxiety (in the best possible way).

The screen shows these different zombies coming toward you and it’s your job to kick them back, all while trying to aim for the ones armed with weapons so your strike has more impact.

Is their Food & Drink Good?

I was pleasantly surprised by their selection!

Their food menu showcased different cuisines, with a selection of ‘smaller bites’ (probably aimed towards people who want to eat and play simultaneously) and bigger plates for those who are generally just looking to dine in the main social area.

The drinks menu is very varied and won’t leave anybody left out – sober or otherwise.

Summary

All in all, I really enjoyed the experienced – particularly off-peak.

It was quiet, fun and a genuine workout depending on the level I selected in the game.

And once I added in my details to receive my scores back home, I was already thinking about when I could go back and see if I can outdo my last performance.

Definitely a worthy ‘thing to do‘ for us here at Hobby FC.
